Nestled in the city of Akashi, Hyogo Prefecture, overlooking the picturesque Seto Inland Sea, the distillery originated in 1888 as Eigashima Shuzo, primarily focused on sake production. However, it was in 1919, when the company relocated to its current premises, that the esteemed White Oak Distillery came into existence.

Due to its limited production, White Oak's whisky stills operate for only one month each year. While most of their output is blended whisky, the release of their single malts, bearing the name 'Akashi' in honor of their hometown, captivates whisky aficionados.
